After studying as a nurse and realising that was not a sustainable career path for me I did a Computer Science conversion masters at the University of Bristol. This saw me undertake modules including C Programming, Java, Web Development, Game Development and Computer Architecture. I carried out a final project at the Bristol Robotics Laboratory which saw me study the effect of erroneous behaviour on trust in Human-Robot Interaction.
I now work for a not-for-profit company based on the UK that focuses on creating AI-based solutions for Further and Higher Education Institutions. This has included; integrating existing AI tools from cloud providers into frontend showcases for institutions to learn from, using IoT technology to collect and display environmental data, building a machine-learning model that identifies emotion within text using python and tensorflow (my first foray into building my own machine learning model so by no means an expert in this field!), integrating an existing VR technology into our Virtual Classroom platform to extend the realms of possibility in virtual learning environments. I am looking to donate some of my time to a worthy cause, predominantly to try fight our ongoing climate crisis.
