I am Randy Douglas, software developer and graduate of Thinkful’s full stack software engineering program. I have been able to learn and hone new technical competencies such as DBMS, REST, JSON, JavaScript, CSS, HTML along with best practices, and apply them to build meaningful full stack applications. For example, I built an application called New Leaves where I used Postgres database management system and a RESTful API to store, manipulate and retrieve data in JSON format. The project also makes use of helper methods for a clean and readable code. I received guidance from my mentor, who helped me to learn how to build more robust unit and integration tests by using a Test-Driven Design philosophy while considering alternative cases and exceptions. As a result, I was able to create an application that allows users to exchange and memorialize their traditions through discourse.
