Roman Road Trust is a small but ambitious Community Interest Company (CIC) operating in Bow and Globe Town in Tower Hamlets, east London. We deliver many projects within our local community focusing on themes such as celebrating local heritage, bringing local people together, encouraging pride in our neighbourhood and sharing local skills and knowledge.
Our website was first created in 2014 and uses a basic WordPress template. The main functions of the website are to share updates on our projects via blog posts, showcase previous and current projects via the portfolio, encourage sign-ups to our mailing list, and signpost residents to local news, events, and important information.
The Roman Road Trust website has become very outdated and does not meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards. We know that within Tower Hamlets, more men and women spend years of their life in ill health than any other London Borough. Therefore, there is a high proportion of people within Tower Hamlets that identify as being disabled. Lots of local residents connect with and become engaged with our work via our website. Therefore, is it extremely important to us that our online platforms are able to be used and enjoyed by all local residents no matter their needs.
We are looking for someone to help us revitalise and refresh the website to be more in-keeping with the websites of today and to be fully accessible. The current website contains many pages/blog posts. Whilst we do use the website as an archive of our work, we would consider removing some of the oldest/least relevant pages. Finally, we would like to have a website in which our team can add content, make changes and perform updates easily.
